Ministerial Forum 2007YEA!! Ministerial Forum 2007 has been held and it was well received and a very successful one. Everybody was happy and the people from the PMO side were happy with our performances.
It took us one year and 1 month to get this things done and the committee really had some turbulent times during the course of 1 year. Firstly, there were no ministers who wanted to come over to give this forum and we waited for like about 6 months. When we got finally got a minister to talk to us, it's MM LEE (we didn't expect to be him), the father of Singapore and we were all excited about it and got on to work until the second turbulence struck.
During the May/June period, many of our commitee are graduating and we were left with a very crippled commitee and everything was hard as we had to start everything from scratch and start to get our new committee members quick! And in we have people from Hall 2. And all these people know each other and makes them easy to work with and influenced the style of work. And we gelled quickly and started to get into business. With a very experienced logistics and very creative publicity everything was up within a few weeks. And the countless meetings to tie down everything all the uncertainties we can think of and the difficulties we face.
The 2 days before forum itself was torturous as we had to set up the audi and think of all the ushers deployment. and we spend like the whole night to put up the decos and the souvenirs for the audiences and putting up the backdrop took us 2 full days (and the champions forgot to take picture of it we just hope that the media took some and send us).
For the forum itself, everything was a rush as we had only 1 1/2 hrs to fill up the audi and everybody have to clear security and register with us before going in. The ushers IC (Me!) dont even have time to change and while tying my tie i have to take a peep to see whether the ushers were doing well as the audiences come in. Then in comes MM Lee, and he gave a forum yada yada(for details please refer to straits times or alternatively you can go to ntu website to look at the cuttings).. then off he goes to reception and we took a pic with him before he left for another function that he had to attend.
All in all, we had a successful forum. Even though there are complains and whinings during the preps but we certainly had fun and made good friends here. and our teamwork and friendship even impressed one of MM Lee's Press Sec who commented that our committe have good teamwork and everybody's looking after each other. Initially we didn't want the photo taking with MM Lee because he was in a rush but this lady (press sec) insisted that we should and she enthusiatically asked to get organised quickly and helped us to get MM and Mrs Lee to take picture with us. She's very cute and funny too. During her first visit to do recce, we were in a room thinking that she would wnat to discuss serious matters regarding the forum, we ending up having casual talks, speaking in chinese and taking chinese lessons from her. Such delight to work with a person like her.
ahhh well... all these things can only be archived as memories I suppose. Really proud of ourselves as the organising committee. As this is my final year, I doubt i will be working in any events anymore. As I always tell my juniors I have expired already. Now the spot light is being shone on my juniors. as the saying goes 长江后浪推前浪 前浪死在沙滩上。
Thanks MF 2007. Thanks for the memories and thank you MM Lee.
